Clonmel World Music, in association with Bakers Bar, are delighted to present our first Reggae/Ska band gig in Clonmel. Captain Accident & the Disasters are a 6-piece Reggae/Ska/Soul band from Cardiff, Wales.
Captain Accident creates his unique blend of rock-driven soulful roots reggae, ska & dub at his home studio in Cardiff. With the help of the finest musical collective dubbed “The Disasters” this sound is then explosively transformed onto the stage, bringing an energetic & captivating live show. With soulful vocals, luscious harmonies, soaring twin guitars and a truly infectious groove, there’s no standing still when Captain Accident and his companions hit the stage.
Captain Accident currently has 4 self-produced albums under his belt: “Pick up the Microphone” (2010), “Slippin Up” (2013), “Wake & Break” (2016) and the critically acclaimed “Bad Press” (2021) which has received great reviews and praise.
Through intensive touring of the UK and Europe, an abundance of video content, festival appearances and high-profile radio airplay, more and more people are becoming aware of the Captain’s unique sound & approach to songwriting. With an ever-growing fanbase and a live show gaining so much
momentum in terms of sound and energy, Captain Accident and The Disasters are becoming harder and harder to ignore on the UK reggae/ska circuit and further afield.
In 2016, Captain Accident and The Disasters were hand-picked to join reggae heroes Toots & the Maytals for a run of dates on their UK tour. After impressing the reggae legends, their fans and their agency, the band were invited back out as full-tour support in 2017 and 2018, taking them to some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including London Barbican Theatre, Brighton Dome, Manchester Academy, Nottingham Rock City.
CA & the D have shared a stage with many of the biggest names in reggae & ska including: Suggs (who jumped on stage to sing with the band!), Steel Pulse, Alborosie, Less Than Jake, Aswad, The Abyssinians, Big Youth, The Skints, The Skatalites, Bad Manners, The Toasters, Neville Staple (The
Specials), Fishbone, David Rodigan and most recently, Reggae Royalty, Julian Marley who the band have just completed a UK tour with.
The band are a festival favourite, appearing at many of the best including; Glastonbury, Wilderness, Cornbury, Bestival, SGP, Boomtown & arguably the biggest reggae festival in Europe, Spain’s legendary”Rototom Sunsplash”
